Ferry and express boat timetables to Lofoten
When you travel through Northern Norway, you are often reliant on boat transportation to reach all the gems along the way. You can travel to the Lofoten Islands by ferry or express boat from the north or south. In 2012 four new gas-powered ferries were stationed on the routes Bodø – Værøy – Røst – Moskenes and Bognes – Lødingen. This provides extra vehicle space and a comfortable voyage.
We recommend the “Reis” app when planning your trip. Download from App Store, or from Google Play. With the app, you can plan journeys and see departure times for public transport for the whole of Nordland. Logos below identifies the app.
Ferry
There is more traffic in summer so it’s a good idea to order your tickets a minimum of one day in advance. Most routes have extra departures during the summer months. The routes are carried out by the companies Torghatten Nord and Boreal. Ferry routes and timetables have been phased out, and we recommend using the Torghatten website to find your routes. We have linked to main routes as per below. Each link will lead you to pages where you can book tickets and get the information you need. All passenger must be registered with full name, nationality and birthdate.
Important note from Torghatten Nord:
Passengers must now register with full name, nationality and birthdate before boarding the ferry on the Bodø-Værøy-Røst-Moskenes route due to new security requirements. Torghatten Nord has established a digital registration system, and to register, passengers must register here: Passenger Registration. There is also QR code at the pier that links to the same page.
When traveling with others, all passengers can be added to a single registration. After completing the registration, you will receive a boarding pass. The boarding pass will be scanned by the crew when you board the ferry. The boarding pass can be saved for future trips.

Express boats
Svolvær-Skrova-Bodø
The express boat service from Bodø to Svolvær is a fantastic way to travel to Lofoten – all year round. This scenic voyage takes you between islands and skerries along the coast and has several ports of call in both Hamarøy and Steigen.
The express boat does not have a vehicle deck, but you may bring your bike. However, it’s a good idea to arrange this in advance. Order your tickets here (only in Norwegian). And if you plan on several boat/bus trips, consider buying the Travel Pass Nordland.
You can find the schedules for the express boat on the Reis Nordland website. Check out this map also for a better illustration.
Reinefjorden
It is possible to take the local boat from Reine to either Vindstad or Kjerkfjorden to explore the north side of the Moskenes island. From Vindstad you can walk to the beautiful Bunes beach.
You can find the schedule for Reinefjorden timetable in Reis Nordland here. Choose “Nordre Nordland” in the menu, then travel “from” Reine hurtigbåtkai (Moskenes) “to” Kirkefjord, Rostad and Vindstad. Book your express boat ticket here.
Stokmarknes – Kaljord – Hanøy
Another scenic route is the express boat from Stokmarknes to Hanøy (from Vesterålen to Lofoten). Check out departures and book tickets here.
