Ballstad

Ballstad – Lofoten’s largest operational fishing village

See the Lofoten fishery in all its glory when the Cod (Skrei) swims out in Vestfjorden. How about staying in a fisherman’s cabin, wandering about, or eating at a restaurant?

About Ballstad

Fisherman’s Cabins and the buildings in Ballstad are shielded from the sea by many small islands, and no matter where you go, you will always have the iconic Skottind hanging over you.

Down along the harbor you will find many activities such as kayaking, diving and snorkelling on the small grounds outside Ballstad. If you would rather try your luck at fishing, it is also possible to jump aboard one of the fishing boats that depart here.

For those without a fear of heights, we recommend a trip to the top of Skottind, which gives you a 360-degree view of the area. There are also several walks around the headland for those who would rather stay in the lowlands.

How do you get to Ballstad?

You can take the bus 18-742 from Leknes. If you come from Bodø, you can take Ferry 18-782 from Bodø to Moskenes, before driving on to Ballstad (65 km drive).
