About

An authentic and flavorful experience of Lofoten. There are many stories about this archipelago — from the deepest seas to the highest mountains, from cold winters to delightful summers, from spectacular northern lights to the magical midnight sun. Here, our guests are offered the genuine, unfiltered, and authentic stories of Lofoten.

The archipelago is located in what is often referred to as “the world’s largest pantry,” and the unique ingredients that the people of Lofoten have lived off for centuries are plentiful.

When the story is “seasoned” with local flavors, the impressions become even stronger, leaving our guests with a deeper sense of life in Lofoten.

Among the flavors, you’ll find stockfish and salmon from the Vestfjord, roe/caviar from the exclusive Lofoten cod (Lofotskrei), and locally produced cheese from VestvĂĄgøy. The taste of pure cod liver oil and sweet cloudberries from the high mountains of Lofoten are also part of the experience.

The taste journey begins at the quay in Svolvær, where you’ll meet local hosts. “Taste of Lofoten” takes place partly outdoors, but mainly indoors in a specially designed showroom on the quay in Svolvær. The tasting includes a variety of samples, but is not considered a full meal. Beverages can be purchased to accompany the tasting.

Taste of Lofoten includes a short guided walk along the quay in Svolvær with a stop in a private venue (a fish processing facility) at the new Thon Hotel Svolvær. The tasting includes a variety of samples, but is not considered a full meal. Desired beverages can be purchased to accompany the food. The price (NOK 1,045) is based on a minimum of 8 participants, but the experience can also be arranged for as few as 2 people based on a minimum price. Maximum 20 participants.
