Our Lofoten By Horse tour starts at the Hov Gård stable and offers a scenic ride along Gimsøya Island’s coastline. First, you’ll ride over Hov, an arctic beach, before heading towards the fishing village of Hovsund. After a gentle climb and more spectacular views, you can catch a glimpse of the traditional fish-drying racks while riding past ancient remnants from the Viking age before heading back to the stable. We sometimes get lucky enough to observe our local bird life in the summer, including the majestic sea eagle.
This tour does not require any experience, and everyone is more than welcome to join. Lofoten by horse is slow-paced, so if you have experience and are looking for something more advanced, look at our longer tour options.
Weight limit is 95kg on all riding tours.
Hov Gård is situated at Hov, on the island of Gimsøy, in the heart of Lofoten. Hov is approximately 45 kilometres south-west of Svolvær and 50 kilometres north-east of Lekens. Follow the E10 and turn off at the Sundklakkbrua bridge on Gimsøy. As you will see, the riding centre is centrally situated in Lofoten, under an hour’s drive away from most overnight accommodations and attractions.
