About

Welcome to Å at the end of road E10. Here you find the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, one of the best preserved fishing villages in Northen Norway.

Discover our authentic buildings: the boathouse, fish oil factory, fisherman´s home, blacksmith, post office, fisherman´s cabin and bakery from the 19th century. You can get familiar with the hard and picturesque life in a fishing village during the Lofoten fishery and the whole year around. You will be guided through the everydays of the travelling fisherman, the local families and the squire, who managed the village from around 1840-1960.
The museum is open the whole year, with various opening hours.
For updated opening hours please check the Museum`s website at Museum Nord!

Our famous Bakery revives in summer, and we heat up again the stone oven from 1878 to bake several types of traditional bread and of course world`s best cinnamon rolls. We sell the bakery products in the Museum Café in the Summer season.
Open: June-August

“Gammelbutikken”, The old grocery store (est. 1843) works as a museum reception where you can buy the tickets and get information about the museum. The shop also has a wide range of locally produced goods, including stockfish, local literature, fishing equipment, books, souvenirs and a basic selection of groceries.

Our souvenir shop near the car park, called Servicehuset (after the tunnel) sells a variety of souvenirs, clothes and books. The shop is open from June til August.
