Welcome to Å at the end of the E10. Here, you will find the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, one of the best-preserved fishing villages in Northern Norway.
Discover our authentic buildings: the boathouse, the cod liver oil factory, the tenant farmer’s cottage, the smithy, the post office, the fisherman’s cabin, and the bakery.
You will get to know the harsh yet picturesque life in a fishing village during the Lofoten fishing season and throughout the year. You will be guided through the daily life of the traveling fisherman, the local families, and the village owner who led the community from around 1840–1960.
In the summer, you can experience traditional handicrafts in action, including blacksmithing, cod liver oil steaming, paint production, and textile work.
Bakery and Café
The museum’s famous bakery is open from June 1st to September 30th, offering freshly baked bread and cinnamon rolls made in the bakery’s old stone oven from 1878. Our museum café is open daily during the summer season, where you can enjoy quality coffee and homemade cakes.
Parking
To reach the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, parking is available just after the tunnel. You will also find a souvenir shop and public restrooms. It takes about 3 minutes to walk from the parking lot to Å center.
