Reine and Å

About

Experience Lofotens most popular sights.
One of our most memorable tours.

On this tour, which visits the two southernmost islands connected by road,
you will see that when it comes to the landscape, each island very much has its own character.
Following the outer coast, where the sea stretches unbroken all the way to the polar ice, you pass the charming 18th century Flakstad Church.

By the village of Ramberg is a 1.3 kilometre (0.8 mile) curve of pristine beach.
On a sunny day, the white sand and the almost tropical colour of the water makes it hard to believe that you’re 200 kilometres (120 miles) north of the Arctic Circle!

You continue south, the mountains becoming ever more striking as you go, to the island of Moskenes, where the road skirts the feet of the jagged black granite range.

At the very end of the main road is the tiny village of Å.
The track down to the village is lush with trees and wildflowers.

There is plenty to explore in the surrounding area, as well as a shop and café and to visit.
The village bakery, with its stone ovens dating back more than a century, is justly famous for its cinnamon buns.

The return journey offers a striking new vista with each curve of the road.
Reine, with its stunning backdrop of almost surreal mountains, was voted The Most Picturesque Village in Norway by a national newspaper.

Wander in any direction and you’ll find something worth seeing.
One of our most memorable tours.
