The Lofoten archipelago in northern Norway is a natural paradise, perfect for kayak paddling and getting active in nature. We take advantage of the coastal landscape and all its treasures during this fun and educational tour where you get introduced to the use of wild plants. This is an amazing opportunity to get active and explore Lofoten in an eco-friendly way with local, knowledgeable guides.
The adventure starts by the beach in stunning Lyngvær, located about 20 minutes by car from Henningsvær or Svolvær. This is a scenic location with a beautiful little archipelago and a nice camping site right below the mountain. Count on Instagram-friendly views under the midnight sun! Our dedicated local guides will greet you for an introduction to the tour and hand out everything that you need to get going. We provide premium kayaks and gear, and no previous experience is needed to join in. We focus on safety, and you will get easy and convenient instructions, regardless of what level you are at.
The first introduction to the use of plants takes place on land. After a while, we bring some of the greens we find with us as we paddle through the turquoise waters to a coral island nearby. Along the way, we pick some sea-growing plants as well. The pristine island that we paddle to has a white, paradise-like beach, where we go ashore. The views over the Arctic landscape late at night are spectacular, as the midnight sun spreads its golden light on the water’s surface. On the island, there is plenty of time to explore and find more usable wild-growing plants. We teach you how to recognize different species of the flora and what they can be used for, and eventually, we try some simple frying and tasting of our harvest. All participants get a thermos with hot water to make themselves a nice cup of tea made entirely out of what we just picked. We also serve a takeaway sandwich to keep energy levels up. Together, we sit down around the campfire to enjoy the moment in this special place.
We paddle back filled with new knowledge and impressions – and most likely, with fresh eyes on what grows around us!
