Villa Lofoten

About

Villa Lofoten is a small group of newly renovated, historic buildings that once belonged to local fishermen in the small community Kvalnes, Vestvågøy. They now offer beautiful holiday accommodation for visitors looking for an authentic Lofoten experience.

We offer stays in three historical buildings in the abandoned conservation area of the fishing village of Kleivan and a farmhouse at Soleng, a stone’s throw from the harbour. The buildings have been restored using reclaimed materials and adapted for modern use. The furnishings are essentially recycled and convey Nordic craft and art traditions.

The cultural and historical buildings, the harbour, the beach, the farmland, the sea, the mountains, wind, weather, northern lights and the midnight sun provide a unique and special atmosphere. Villa Lofoten sparks the memory of what has been and invites its guests to create new stories and memories.

The Saltery (sleeps 6) is a gem of vernacular architecture, located on the quay. The ground floor is an open space with a kitchen and dining room, fireplace, stairwell, and bathroom. Upstairs is a lounge with a view out to the ocean as well as two bedrooms. On the third floor is the Nansen Room with a sofa and desk, a bedroom with two single beds and another bedroom with one bed. Minimum stay 3 nights.

The Fisherman’s Cabin (sleeps 4) consists of part of a building from the 1850s with entrance hall, kitchen, dining room with fireplace, and a bathroom. There are two bedrooms rooms with bunks under the roof, a work table, original wood stoves and double beds. Minimum stay 3 nights.

The Steamery (sleeps 2). Here guests are as close to the sea as you can possibly get, with a window in the floor where you can follow the movement of the tides. The accommodation comprises entrance hall, living room, dining table and kitchen, a spacious living room where cod-liver oil was previously steamed, and a low-ceilinged bedroom with a double bed. Minimum stay 3 nights.

Edvardbua (sleeps 2) is perfect for young explorers or a couple. There there are two loft beds and a main bedroom, desks in both rooms, a sofa and a small entrance hall where you will find a kettle and crockery, and a wardrobe. In the basement there is a kitchen and a private bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer that are available for all guests. Outside the entrance, there is a pleasant terrace where you can relax in the sun, look at the mountains and listen to the ocean. Minimum stay 3 nights.

Sigurdbua (sleeps 2) is perfect for young explorers, a couple, two friends or for someone travelling alone. There is a loft bed and a sofa (which can also be used as a bed), a desk, oven with two hotplates as well as a refrigerator. Water for cooking is available in the basement, where there is also a bathroom with shower and toilet. Minimum stay 3 nights.

All our houses have good Wi-Fi and heating and all our guests are welcome to use the outside spaces as well as our kayaks and bicycles.
