In the chieftain’s house, lamb stew is cooked over the fire, and you can enjoy this very popular dish for lunch by the hearth. You also have the chance to taste mead, the festive drink of the gods.
At the Viking ship harbor, you can test your skills in archery, axe throwing, and balance games. In the middle of summer, the Viking ship sails several times daily—join a sailing trip, or grab the oars if the wind is calm.
You can walk along scenic gravel paths from the chieftain’s house to the Viking ship harbor. The walk takes about 15–20 minutes through open cultural landscapes and forested areas.
Discover the History of Borg
At Glassgården (the entrance building), you can explore archaeological findings and learn about the sensational discovery of Borg.
Take some time to watch the film “The Dream of Borg” (12 min). Guided tours here are available via smartphones and headphones (in 6 languages). It is recommended to bring your own headphones and smartphone.
Experience Traditional Animals and Viking Life
Outside, animals of ancient breeds graze freely in the large open areas.
You may spot wild boars, Nordland cattle, Nordland horses, and free-ranging sheep (wild sheep) enjoying the natural surroundings.
All the Vikings at the museum are happy to answer your questions and are available to share knowledge about the Viking Age and the discoveries at Borg.

Groups of at least 15 people can book guided tours well in advance. The museum is open year-round for groups (minimum 15 people) by reservation, both for dining and/or guided tours.
